WVFC Battles Fires
While Tanker 1 is currently out of service the rest of the apparatus was busy responding to various fire calls throughout the area on Sunday. Structure fires in Orlean and New Baltimore kept the Engines out during the afternoon along with a small outside fire in the Catlett area.
Sunday was a very busy day for the EMS company which was out with two medic units and one basic ambulance helping out from Casanova to Warrenton and up to Orlean and into the Marshall areas.

Another Busy January Weekend
While classes were conducted in the basement to train for future incidents, the tones kept dropping from everywhere for various assistance calls upstairs.
WVFC ran over 12 Engine Company calls in addition to the regular EMS Company response. While a good amount of those were related to the extremely cold temperatures in the teens which caused water pipes to burst.
The picture above shows an outside fire near the soccer fields at the Aquatic Center.

WVFC and NBVFRC training together to lead the way
Emergencies come in all sorts of ways from automobile accidents and medical assistance calls but many other situations require additional training and various rescue techniques to save life and property.
HTR also known as Heavy Technical Rescue is one of those advanced classes which combine various different rescue efforts into one and require an array or specialized training. The past two weekends had been filled with the first level of classes consisting of Confined Space, Trench Rescue and Water Rescue Awareness. Those classes are part of the core foundation needed to eventually become Structural Collapse Rescue Technicians.
Enjoy a small glimpse into the various class room settings held over the past two weeks at WVFC.

We would like everyone in our community to remember to keep up their guard and drive safely. Please be extra cautious when transporting children as these should be in approved safety devices which have proven to save lives in all sorts of accidents.

WVFC's warrentonfire.org Celebrates 10 Years
On July 21, 1998 what is now known as www.warrentonfire.org was launched. At the time of its inception the company was lead by Chief H F "Billy" Hitt and President Ralph Monaco. The site was created and conceived by Sid Bolden. Along with help from HTML.com the WVFC established its internet presence.
Ten years later, the WVFC's website has become a wonderful tool for the members of the community and the members of the WVFC. The site continues to be a beacon for all involved with the WVFC.

WVFC and NBVFRC train together
In a collaboration effort between the Warrenton Fire Company and the New Baltimore Fire Company the monthly training drills topic focused on water emergencies. Over 40 members from both companies showed up at Chestnut Forks Athletic Club to participate in this training which would not have been possible without the support of the clubs management.
The skills needed to safely backboard victims in the water and the use of throwbags was practiced to aid victims which are in bodies of water.

It's back
During the construction and remodeling process at the main firehouse on West Shirley Avenue one
memorabilia was removed from the building to protect it from any damage that might result while construction workers were working hard to get the station updated. The "1976" marks the year that the WVFC moved from it's old Main Street firehouse to its new and current location at 167 West Shirley Ave. This ornament was
mortared back into the building last week.
We are thankful for the support we have received from the public and will return the favor by providing exceptional emergency service to the Town of Warrenton and the surrounding areas like we have always done!

EMS One
There is a new kid on the block
WVFC is proud to introduce another set of twins to the array of emergency vehicles to serve the citizens of Warrenton and Fauquier County.
A 2008 Chevy Tahoe called EMS 1 is one of two Tahoe's that had been outfitted with the latest technology and medical equipment for quick emergency personnel deployment. This unit features seating for 3 and storage in the back for everything that is needed when quick response or additional help on an emergency scene is required.
Once the back hatch is opened an array of medical equipment can be accessed without losing valuable time. We even have a temperature controlled narcotics safe that makes this vehicle the ultimate paramedic's tool to get the job done.

New Engine One
Enter the new hotness!
Shortly after the arrival of two monster medic units, the WVFC has now taken delivery of twin pumpers. The pumpers are on a Pierce Dash Chassis equipped with 2,000 gpm Hale pump, 80 gallons of foam and 750 gallons of water. Powered by Detroit Diesel 60 Series powerplant and an Allison Transmission these pumpers have some of the latest innovations in the fire service. The pumpers are identical
with with exception of lettering. Photos
 Ambulance 1-2
Monsters Spotted in Warrenton
Warrenton Fire is proud to announce its recent addition of two International 4300 "Monster Medics" to its emergency vehicle fleet.
With the addition of these units we are hoping to reduce the downtime and increase the amount of serviceable life that can be gained from having a so called "Monster Medic". Monster Medics are ambulances that are built onto a true truck chassis
and therefore are made to endure the harsh treatment of daily heavy duty operations, so getting an ambulance that uses this technology has proven itself to be very reliable in the long term.
The addition of those two ambulance caused the removal of our old ambulances from 1999 and placed our 2003 and 2004 units as secondary and backup units respectively. Both ambulances have been given the green light and are currently serving our community.

Warrenton lends New Baltimore, Ambulance
On October 16, 2006 at approximately 7 p.m., an ambulance from the New Baltimore Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department was involved in a two vehicle accident on Broadview Avenue in the Town of Warrenton. Personnel from the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., Warrenton Training Center Fire Department, and New Baltimore Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department sustained minor injuries and
were subsequently transported to Fauquier Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle involved in the accident also sustained injury and was transported to Fauquier Hospital as well.
The New Baltimore ambulance was transporting a patient in cardiac arrest and personnel were attempting to resuscitate the patient when the accident occurred.
All fire and rescue personnel were treated and released by Fauquier Hospital. The status of the other driver was not available at the time of this release. Further information is pending the ongoing investigation by the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office.
The ambulance did sustain sufficient damage to remove it from service. However, New Baltimore will have an ambulance on loan from Warrenton so there will be no drop in the level of service.
Any questions regarding the incident should be directed to Chief George Keefer of the New Baltimore Fire and Rescue Department or Chief Scott Taylor of the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.

New Pumper, Ambulance on Order

The WVFC looks forward to serving the community well with its new pumper and ambulances.

Important Message From Chief Taylor
The Warrenton Volunteer Fire Company, in its continued effort to provide the best possible service to its citizens, has recently moved into the next phase of our aggressive mapping and preplanning operation. Our goal is to map every address within our first due response area. Many locations present abnormal challenges to our ability to provide rapid fire suppression and protection such as extremely long driveways and remote water sources.
Crews are systematically assessing these locations on a daily basis. One of the steps in this process is measure distances homes sit off of the main roadways and measuring distances to the nearest water source. If you see fire department personnel patrolling your area or walking your driveway property, they are attempting to identify any possible conditions that may delay or hamper fire suppression efforts. Please feel free to approach these individuals as they may be able to offer suggestions to you
that may assist us should you ever need our services.
As always, if you have any questions, you may contact me at any time at firechief@warrentonfire.org. Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Scott Taylor
Fire Chief

Homeland Security Grant
The WVFC received a share of the $2.1 million issued by the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighter Grant. Among 22 fire departments be awarded the $68,825.00 issued to Warrenton is earmarked for opertations and safety.
“We recognize the importance of the Fire Act Grants to our nation’s fire departments and we will continue to work closely with the fire service community to meet their needs,” said Matt A. Mayer, Acting Executive Director of the Office of State and Local Government Coordination
and Preparedness (SLGCP). This program demonstrates Homeland Security’s commitment to ensuring that America’s firefighters have the resources they need to protect their communities.

WVFC/WVRS Merger
During the February business meeting the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Company completed its merger with the Warrenton Volunteer Rescue Squad. The merger has been ongoing for several months. WVFC and WVRS are now one entity

Building Expansion
The cramped confines of the WVFC will give way to building expansion. The expansion will exponential increase office space and living quarters for the members. This is a long awaited project. This project will modernize the station and give much needed space after the merger. It is apart of the Capitol Improvement Plan for Fauquier County Fire and Rescue.

Affordable Housing
The old carnival lot will become the new location of affordable housing for seniors. The project will have approximately 100 apartments on the property to the rear of the fire station. The project has been made possible by the Virginia Housing Development Authority. The project is funded through tax credits given to non-profit organizations to develop age restricted affordable housing. To find out more to go our Moffet Manor page.
